Im coming to the end of a year living abroad in Germany and although it's been amazing out here. I never would have thought a year ago that i would ever like minimal techno. However after 12 months of Techno and Bratwurst I have to say I am looking forward to getting my teeth back into the mancunian night life again.
Not just the classical Manchester nights out like Warehouse Project, which obviously has to be reached this year before it leaves its current home of Store Street Car Park at the end of this year, but also the smaller nights with a family vibe like ballin' on a budget. Also recently I've noticed a few new nights being announced of late, something which you can always expect near the start of a new academic year. So In some sort of bizzare editorial manouvere I thought I'd list a few nights im looking forward to checking when I get back and maybe spread the word on them a bit.
First up this freshers, big friends of ours, Pandemik are returning to Dry Live with another big friend of ours Skeptical and Ulterior Motive on the bill. I've heard nothing but good things about these nights all year and Al has been regularly in attendance with his camera. I would say Pandemik have got the deep and dark side of drum and bass locked down at the moment in Manchester. With bookings like Need For Mirrors, Doc Scott, Skeptical and Dub Phizix they've definitely got good taste and big plans for the future. Check out their fresher's event here ...
Next up we've obviously got Soul:Ution at Band On The Wall. A solid and respected monthly in Manchester, which this month is taking things to a next level with a four hour back to back from the two veteran label bosses Marcus Intalex and Goldie. Things are definitely going to get heated in there on the 30th.
Balling on a Budget, one of my favourite nights in manc is still going strong. Definitely looking forward to getting back into Mint Lounge and wileing out to Chimpo for 2. Check out the facebook group for more info on Ballin. If you don't know about it yet then you need to make sure you hit one up soon.
There's two new nights in a similar vibe to Balling On A Budget starting up next month. Namely More Bounce, a new weekly at the Roadhouse which promises to bring a pile of Bashment, Hip Hop and bass all for 2 on the door. Reckon this one is definitely worth a cheeky gander. Check out the facebook here ...
The second one kicking off at Trof is on a hip hop tip every friday for just a quid in. Will Not Be Televised has a whole host of manc hip hop heads on the lineup already including Example's Sparkz and Skittles. Check out the lineups here ..
Right im bored now.
